Lookup Clark County Court Dockets

Clark County court dockets show the activity log for a case, including filings, hearings, orders, continuances, judgments, sentencing entries, and payment events. A Clark County court docket search is usually done through the same statewide court portal used for case lookup, with the Clerk of the Courts serving as the fallback for official copies and records not shown online. Dockets are not the same as full case files, but they are often the fastest way to check case movement, court dates, and disposition status in Clark County, Indiana.

Clark County Court Docket Basics

A docket is the court's running event list for a case. In Indiana MyCase, this usually appears as the chronological case summary, or CCS. For Clark County court dockets, that summary can show when a filing was made, when a hearing was set or continued, when an order was entered, when a judgment or sentence was recorded, and when a payment or balance event posted.

A docket is narrower than the complete court record. It tells the user what happened and when it happened. The full case file may contain the actual complaint, motion, order, sentencing entry, exhibit, decree, or financial record behind the docket entry. Some of those documents are linked online, but the Indiana Judicial Branch warns that not every public document is online and older records may be incomplete in the portal.

Chronological Case Summary
The Indiana docket and event log for a court case.
Hearing
A scheduled court event with a date, time, court, and hearing type.
Disposition
The result of a charge, claim, or case.
Converted event
An entry moved from an older system into MyCase, often with limited detail.

Find Clark County Court Dockets Online

Clark County court dockets are searched through Indiana MyCase. The county courts page and the Indiana Judicial Branch Clark County page both route users to MyCase for case information and some documents. For docket work, the key is to open the case result, then read the chronological case summary and hearing sections rather than stopping at the search-results list.

  1. Open Indiana MyCase and choose the search tab that fits the information available.
  2. Search by case number, party name, attorney, citation, or business name.
  3. Use Clark County as a filter when possible to avoid statewide false matches.
  4. Open the matching case and read the chronological case summary from oldest to newest or newest to oldest, depending on the display.
  5. Check hearing entries for date, time, court, hearing type, and judicial officer when listed.
  6. Contact the Clerk of the Courts if the docket suggests a public document exists but the document is not linked online.

The same search can surface criminal, traffic, civil, domestic relations, probate, and protective order docket information, but access varies by case type. For example, public criminal final orders may be available online, while some domestic relations documents may be in-person only for public users under Indiana's access table.

Clark County Court Dockets by Court

Clark County is not a district-court county in the Texas or Colorado sense. The county's trial work is handled by Clark Circuit Court Nos. 1 through 4 and Clark Superior Court Nos. 5 and 6. Those courts share the same Judicial Center address, but their docket mix differs by local assignment rules.

CourtMain docket assignments
Circuit Court No. 1Serious felonies filed in even-numbered months, estates, trusts, adult guardianships, tax sale, conservancy, and some adoptions.
Circuit Court No. 2Higher felony controlled-substance and legend-drug cases, plus part of the adoption rotation.
Circuit Court No. 3Level 6 felony cases, OWI, and other motor-vehicle criminal cases under Indiana Title 9 Chapter 30.
Circuit Court No. 4Serious felonies filed in odd-numbered months, juvenile matters, CHINS, TPR, child guardianships, and adoptions.
Superior Court No. 5Non-OWI misdemeanors, traffic infractions, ordinance violations, and domestic relations cases.
Superior Court No. 6Foreclosure, civil collection, small claims, eviction, tort, plenary civil, protective orders, reciprocal support, and Title IV-D.

City and town courts may also matter for municipal or ordinance issues, and federal cases near Clark County are not in MyCase. Federal dockets belong in PACER or the Southern District of Indiana system.

Clark County Dockets vs Case Records

The docket is a strong tool for tracking movement, but it is not the same as a certified record. A docket can show that an order was entered, while the order itself may need to be opened from a document link or requested from the Clerk. A docket can show that a sentence was imposed, but the sentencing order provides the exact terms.

Read Clark County Docket Entries

Read Clark County court dockets in sequence. A charge, complaint, petition, or citation starts the case. Later docket entries may show service, bond, an appearance, motions, orders, continuances, hearings, dismissal, judgment, plea, verdict, sentence, payment, or closure. If the case is criminal, a dismissed charge and a conviction are different outcomes. If the case is civil, a judgment and a settlement entry do not mean the same thing.

Docket terms also vary by case type. In traffic cases, an infraction is a non-criminal violation and an ordinance violation is tied to local law. In civil cases, a plaintiff files a claim against a defendant. In family and probate cases, the terms petitioner and respondent are more common. In estate cases, the docket may name a decedent, estate, personal representative, or guardian.

Clark County traffic docket entries deserve a separate check because the Clerk's traffic page states that traffic court dates are held at the Judicial Center and that nonpayment or failure to appear can lead to BMV noncompliance action rather than an arrest warrant for the ordinary grace-period scenario. CDL operators have no grace period under the traffic page. Criminal OWI and motor-vehicle cases are different from ordinary traffic infractions because Clark County routes those criminal matters to Circuit Court No. 3.

Note: MyCase balances may not include the latest payment, charge, or interest, so the Clerk is the official balance source.
